Visual Forces Composition Part 3

Part 3 of 3: Colorscale Painting in guache
See Part 1 here
See Part 2 here

I like the greyscale better. Blaccchhhhhhhhhh.

Visual Forces Composition Part 2

Part 2 of 3: Greyscale Painting in guache
Part 3 will be in colorscale guache
See Part 1 here

I liked how the greyscale turned out. I honestly thought it would be worse. I am not a painter. I do not like guache. This would've been better with acrylic.

Note: there are tiny dots that are everywhere. Not really visible in the picture.

check it out check it out check it out part II

Do you watch Sonny With A Chance (Family Channel is the bomb, I don't care what you think)? If so, you might catch the reference to it with the header of this post.

But this is not about Sonny With A Chance, no matter how freakingly funny it is.

It's about an amazing music video. If you think Ok Go's music video for Here We Go Again was the shiznit this will blow your mind - as it did mine - and then some.

EnjoOoOoOy! (Don't forget to press pause on the teddy bear, bottom right)

art history

Art History. How I love/hate thee.

1. I think I've got a crush on a man who is 632 years old. Is that weird?
Brunelleschi is the name. Italian Renaissance architect. He's the one who figured out the DOME. Smart, talented man, especially in his thirties. I absolutely adore him...my friend has a crush on Hamlet. HE'S NOT EVEN REAL!

2. I was reading my textbook in the food court
today. My page was open to a self-portrait of Albrecht Durer c.1500 (another very awesome guy). Some random dude walked by my table and kind of idled there. I looked up and he put his portfolio case on the floor, then rolled up the sleeve of his shirt to expose his forearm to show me his tattoo of Durer at age thirteen. Pretty cool, even if I do say so myself.

Embarassing Moment....Again

Sitting in class, half-dead because I only got six hours of sleep (I need AT LEAST eight!!!).
It's known amongst my friends that I don't make any sense when I am tired.
Reminder: I am in a new school. People don't know me as well here as my high school friends etc.
I try to make conversation with the girl beside me. She's eating a peach. Want to know what I said?

"Hey...I have the exact same peach at home. Same size and everything!"

Of course she, along with the girl beside her, burst out laughing - promising to keep bringing this up forever and always.

Thanks new friends!

Check out this awesome website if you already haven't:

too much to do, so little time

School. Website. Personal life.Work.

School: I've got project after project after project lined up for me. It's not that they are hard, it's that they keep on coming! I've got fifteen thumbnail sketches, a color scale composition of my finished grey scale composition (will put it up later), I need to draft an essay proposal, read 203 pages of Art History text, and by the end of this week I will have two more projects assigned that I will need done.

Website: Violet Summer has oodles and oodles of things to put up and sell, and that is trés excitée. They just have to be cut apart, sewed back together, added on to and generally re-made. Lord help us.

Personal life: As many of my friends know, I have a very extensive family, and we something going on almost every weekend. For example this weekedn: my cousin's wedding reception on Friday, and lunch at their house on Saturday. Plus, my birthday is coming up, and I would lovelovelovelove to have every friend I want over, my parents are set out to make sure that does not happen. They also do not grasp the fact of an "all-night art show" happening in downtown Toronto [Nuit Blanche: www.scotiabanknuitblanche.ca/] that I need to go to and everyone else wants to go to and that is on the same night as my hope-to-be birthday party.

Work: Sure, I only have work twice a month, but it's on the WEEKEND. I have work this Sunday. A day that I had hoped to dedicate to homework, but no.

I hate to rant about myself but here it is.

Visual Forces Project 1

Measuring cup, made out of linear materials (pipe cleaners and wire) on a 2:1 scale.

AAAHHHHH EFFF EFFF

I'm arachnaphobic. Extremely. Can't even look at a picture of one.

I ventured into my backyard this morning for a homework assignment and these HUGE EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS WERE ALL OVER THE PLACE. I froze...I was literally in the backyard for like ten minutes before I realized that I was a sitting duck for them here and I should just leave...even though the path out was lined by spiders that I didn't see on the way in.

The point is: I made it out alive.

P.S.
I'm sorry Laura, for making fun of YOUR spider infested backyard.

Owned. Thats right, I took this picture.

Visual Forces Composition Part 1

Part 1 of 3: Rough Illustration
Part 2 will be in greyscale guache, Part 3 will be in colorscale guache.

HARD AS I TRY I KNOW I CANT QUIT
SOMETHING ABOUT YOU IS SO ADDICTING
WE'RE FALLING TOGETHER
YOU'D THINK THAT BY NOW I'D NOW
BECAUSE HERE WE GO, GO, GO, GO AGAIN

Sorry guys. I'm blasting Demi Lovato and singing at the top of my lungs because I'm alone. Actually, I'm not sing the whole thing. I hum at some parts because I can't match her voice range, and I mumble some other parts because I don't know all the words! I only sing out loud when either no one's home or only my sister is home. I sing pretty bad! My sister (Amy, age 10) says I have a nice voice but I don't believe her because she's just being a little sister you know?

Anywho. I've got homework and stuff (which I'm not doing because I don't get it!). So I sing. Sing sing.

I'M 18 IN LESS THAN THREE WEEKS? WHAT THE HECK.

VMAs

Watching the VMA red carpet. Jonas Brothers are NOT there, because they are here: in Toronto :) <3

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay...now I’m DONE watching the VMAs. Several things to comment on, and if you watched the VMAs also (if you didn’t, SHOOT!) , you know what I want to talk about:

Michael Jackson Tribute: Touching speech by Madonna. Friggintastic dancers. Janet Jackson. Job well done.

Russel Brand: Woooow. Why is he still famous? Get off the stage man.

Lady GaGa: aymayzing. Totally. Without a doubt. Always loved her. Her performance was insane, her outfits were crazy. You never know what to expect from that girl. Brava. Congrats to her on her much deserved win.

Kanye West: Ummm....IDIOT. That is all. Never liked him, and I never will. Glad that people booed him every time his name came up for the entire night afterwards. HOW DID HE EVEN GET ON THE STAGE?!?!?!

Taylor Swift: The poor girl. I’m a fan of her music, and seriously, what Kanye did to her broke my heart. She was JUST talking about how amazing this moment was for her, and BAM shattered in an instant. It took a lot of guts to keep her head together to perform like, 10 minutes later.

New Moon Trailer: It actually looks good. I may even see it. I read all the books, but didn’t watch Twilight because it looked really stupid. But I may have to watch it now (and laugh) in order to watch New Moon. Hmm.

Tyson Ritter: Channelling Edward Cullen are we now Tyson? Skinny, tall, Tyson Ritter. Shirtless and bedecked in silver sparkles. It doesn’t sound like a very nice mental picture, but really, he didn’t look half bad. I can't find a picture anywhere :(

P!nk: Awesome performance, for real. She must have some crazy chords to be singing live wile performing acrobatics in the air.

Beyoncé: Good, solid performance, as usual.

Always classy, that Beyonce. When she let Taylor have her speech in the end, I almost cried, for real. She is so sweet.

Chyeah. If you didn’t watch the VMAs hopefully I didn’t ruin much for you. Hopefully I teased you enough to catch pieces of it on YouTube. It's worth it, trust me.

Ovarian Cancer

I did the Winners' Walk of Hope 5K run today for ovarian cancer. Fun stuff, lots of freebies, good exercise, nice weather, touching speeches.

first day

My first day of university was yesterday. I should've posted yesterday, I know, I know - but I wasn’t in a very good mood. Here's my story.

6am: Wake up. Open my shades. It looks like the middle of the night.
7am: On the subway. REALLY SMELLY MAN NEXT TO ME! I CAN'T BREATHE! I CAN'T MOVE BECAUSE THE SUBWAY IS TOO FULL! Ahhh!

8:30am: First class starts! I have two projects to do already. But it’s a fun class, for sure.
3:30pm: Meet up with my best bud Jade!
4pm: CORN ROAST! It’s for OCAD students only, but I distract security with my corn as Jade hops a fence. Badass.

6:30pm: Next class. Prof doesn’t know English very well. We spent a lot of time trying to understand him, and him trying to understand us. Not a very fun class anyway. REALLY tired at this moment.

9:30pm: Class ends. I’m dying on the inside. Seriously can’t spend thirteen hours at school. It’s like having your stomach digest itself.

10:45pm: Finally in bed. I find out that September 14th is the last day to change a course (this coming Monday). So I go to change it now but there’s no other section available! NOOOOO! I’m, very, very upset.

So that was my day – in short. But I changed my course today, so no more thirteen hour day – thank goodness.

Orange juice without pulp is like fake orange juice.

word association

Playing word association with friend Laura (http://www.lauragalloway.blogspot.com). She's really bad...
If you don't know how to play: one person says a word, and the next person says the first relevant word that comes to their head, and on and on and on if playing with more than two people.
My words, her answers:

war - death
push - pull
heart - flower
video - game
love - NO!
neighbour - friend
jonas - brother
sister - die
name - friend
tasty - "mmm yumm"
fool - wool
six - no
tonight - go
sorry - mmmmmm
crazy - mmmmm
fly - fall
little - small
girl - boy
take - no
storm - kill
paranoid - scary
fire - burn
gone - forever
beautiful - broken
dance - sing
nothing - *blank*
game - play
breathing - suffocating

This is not one of her best moments.
So I'm in my room with my younger cousin and my sister. I'm reading; my sister is staring into space; my cousin is blogging (her blogspot is http://www.meridian-august.blogspot.com). My dad half-opens my door to say goodnight and my sister goes over to give him a hug. Suddenly a smell like cocoa butter, vanilla, and lavender slowly floats into the room and I'm sniffing and wondering what it is. It's only after my dad leaves that I realize it was him! I had to double check with my cousin that it wasn't just me smelling this smell (because if it was just me, I'm CRAZY!). Oh, father father.

Anything You Want

Me: You should get a blog.
Cousin: Why would I get a blog?
Me: So you can write anything you want.
Cousin: Do you have a blog?
Me: Yes.
Cousin: What do you write about?
Me: Anything I want.
Cousin: What can I write about?
Me: Anything you want.

I just sat through a whole day sorting through piles upon piles of vintage clothes, seam ripping, yelling at my laptop screen, yelling at my friend, yelling at my sister, getting frustrated, getting jealous, and looking at random pictures. Dearie me.

I'm so tired!

Saturday, September 5, 2009

Fresh.

So, school starts next week and it will be my first day of university (OMIGAAAD). I've gotten past the nervousness and I'm really exci---scratch that I'm still nervous. Oh, I'm at OCAD in Toronto, by the way.

What's really weird is that I only have school twice a week for the fall semester. During winter, I have class three times a week. I'm taking of taking a 10-week
yoga class at school just to fill the spaces!

I need another job. To pay for school. It's so expensive! I already paid five grand for my first year, then they tell me I will need to pay an extra $45 for each studio course (I have 3). Then more money for all the supplies I need...damn.

I'm really going to miss my high school friendsh, for real. Only two of them are going far away (about one to two hours drive), but still. It won't be the same EVER AGAIN. Sadness.

What's even sad is that I don't have a picture of everyone as a group...we're always missing someone! :(

Isn't she just the cutest little girl ever? I was watching this new show "Zeke and Luther" on Family Channel (ahhaahaa...yeah...) and she was the little sister of either Zeke or Luther. I just thought she was really pretty. So I imdb'd her: her name is Ryan Newman; she is eleven years old; she was in a movie called "Zoom" and also played "Younger Miley" on "Hannah Montana" (thank you, imdb.com). But seriously, look at her! Her eyes are so...blue...She looks almost fake! Gah!

Just thought I'd share that with the world.
